The gel is for people with mild to severe erectile dysfunction and is available over the counter

A new treatment for that can work within 10 minutes has launched in the UK.

It is a gel called Eroxon, and has been clinically proven to work for people with mild to severe erectile dysfunction.

What is Eroxon and how does it work?

Eroxon is made by Futura Medical, a pharmaceutical company based in the UK.

Eroxon is applied to the head of the penis, where the gel evaporates, with this evaporation stimulates vascular and neural nerve endings by rapidly cooling and warming the area. This triggers the release of nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels, therefore increasing blood flow to the penis and causing an erection.

The release of nitric oxide is also how other erectile dysfunction (ED) treatments such as Viagra work, but they have the disadvantage of relaxing blood vessels in the entire body, since they are taken orally and not applied directly. This can lead to side effects such as nausea, dizziness and headaches.

These side effects mean people with pre-existing health conditions, such as heart and liver disease, cannot take oral ED pills. They are also not safe for people who have recently had a stroke, and cannot be taken with some prescription medicines.

Dr Hilary Jones, who regularly appears as a health expert on ITV, told: “The word ‘breakthrough’ is often used in health headlines, but new treatments which are truly groundbreaking come along far less frequently. Eroxon is an innovative therapy which has the potential to change the lives of millions of men with erectile dysfunction.”

Dr Catherine Hood, a sexual health specialist, added: “When they were launched back in the 90s, PDE5i medicines were a game-changer, but they are not an option for many men due to pre-existing health conditions, interactions with their prescription medicines or simply because of the time they take to work.”

In a 12-week clinical trial of 250 people, two out of three reported a significant improvement in their ability to achieve and maintain an erection. The figure rose to 80 per cent for those with severe erectile dysfuncion.

How can you get the gel?

The gel is available over the counter, without a prescription. Eroxon costs £24.99 for a pack of four single-use tubes, and is available from Boots stores and online.

Men in the United States can buy the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra (from Pfizer Inc) over the counter for the first time after taking the drug. But did you know that taking the drug also increases the risk of heart disease?

The answer is no.

In a study on men, a group of researchers analyzed data from more than 100,000 men from about 150 U. S. cities and towns and found that taking Viagra increases the risk of heart disease by about 6 percent. It's one of the most common medications in the U.

But is taking Viagra, or the erectile dysfunction drug, really better than taking a pill that contains sildenafil citrate, or Viagra Connect?

Viagra, Pfizer Inc., and other pharmaceutical companies are developing sildenafil citrate as a PDE5 inhibitor. It relaxes blood vessels to allow more blood to flow into the penis, and it works by helping men get an erection when they want one.

But how exactly does Viagra raise the risk of heart disease, and how does it affect Viagra users?

Researchers from the University of Southern California and the San Diego Sexual Medicine Association interviewed 100,000 men who took Viagra, 50 percent, over a one-year period. Half of those men were from the Dominican Republic, while the other half were from the United States. Half of those men were taking a class of drugs known as PDE5 inhibitors.

Half of the men were between the ages of 18 and 60, with about half of the men having health problems, and half were younger than 20. Half of the men in the study, which analyzed the data, said they didn't think they were getting older enough to be sexually active.

In a study on women, a group of researchers analyzed data from about 900 women who took a class known as nonselective PDE5 inhibitors. They found that taking Viagra increased the risk of heart disease by about 1 percent.

But does Viagra raise the risk of heart disease?

The answer is a resounding yes. About 50 percent of women taking Viagra had an increased risk of heart problems, compared to about 25 percent of those taking sildenafil. That's a 1.9 percent increase, according to the researchers.

What about women taking the class of drugs known as PDE5 inhibitors?

A large number of women taking Viagra had an increased risk of heart problems. That was compared to about half of the women taking sildenafil, who had an increased risk of heart problems.

So what about women taking other PDE5 inhibitors?

Viagra and sildenafil are PDE5 inhibitors, but they also work by inhibiting the PDE5 enzyme, which is responsible for breaking down cyclic GMP in the body.

When PDE5 is broken down, it can help relax blood vessels and allow more blood to flow into the penis. It also helps men get an erection when they want one.

Men in the study, including those with health problems, had a greater risk of developing the condition, compared to those taking sildenafil. But the researchers said the increased risk of heart disease was largely attributable to Viagra's stronger, shorter-acting compound.

What about women taking other PDE5 inhibitors?

The biggest question, however, was whether women would have had a greater risk of heart problems if they took Viagra.

Viagra has a long history of being used to treat erectile dysfunction. It was the first PDE5 inhibitor to be approved for this purpose.

In 1998, Pfizer Inc. introduced Viagra to the U. market. The company wanted to try other PDE5 inhibitors, and in 2003 it launched a class of drugs known as PDE5 inhibitors. By 2007, more than half of all men taking the drugs had an increased risk of developing heart problems, according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

But how exactly did Viagra raise the risk of heart disease?

Viagra was developed as a treatment for angina. It wasn't designed to treat erectile dysfunction. It only was to treat chest pain.

The active ingredient in Viagra was sildenafil citrate, a drug used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension, or high blood pressure in the lungs.

What is Erectile Dysfunction?Erectile dysfunction (ED) is the inability to gain or maintain an erection, sufficient for satisfactory sexual intercourse. It is a very common problem, affecting half of Irish men over 50.

Most men will experience some sort of difficulty in getting an erection over their lives. This difficulty for some men will only be a temporary problem and will often be related back to a specific set of circumstances such as stress, tiredness or even alcohol intake. Erectile Dysfunction is only a problem when it is persistent and recurring. While Erectile Dysfunction is more common in older men, it can occur at any age.

Erectile Dysfunction can also be caused by physical conditions such as Diabetes, uncontrolled High Blood Pressure and Vascular Disease (this is the narrowing of blood vessels) and can be an ‘early warning sign’ of heart disease. Erectile Dysfunction can also be caused by conditions that affect your nerves and hormonal balance. Psychological issues such as stress, depression and anxiety can also contribute to Erectile Dysfunction. In most cases Erectile Dysfunction is caused by a combination of both physical and psychological factors.

Since erectile dysfunction symptoms can vary, some men might want to speak to a healthcare professional before they begin to treat it. Speak to your GP or a pharmacist if you’re concerned about symptoms.
